Biosterol is a preparation with high content of steroidal saponins, designed for supplementation of athletes' diets. The selection of compounds, including spirostane derivatives, aims to increase testosterone production and stimulate mental activity, which allows the implementation of complex training plans.

Saponins are chemical compounds of plant origin composed of two parts:

Aglycon - sapogenins (sapogenol) and Glycon - carbohydrates.

  • Saponins alter the structure of cytoplasmic membranes and epithelium and make them more permeable to organic substances, including proteins.
  • Saponins readily combine with cholesterol to form relatively stable compounds that are pharmacologically active.

    Steroid saponins are derivatives of spirostane or furostan. They are formed on the basis of sterane, a cyclic hydrocarbon with a side chain. The side chain consists of a five-membered and six-membered ring. The two rings are joined by carbon C-22. Steroidal saponins - furostan derivatives do not have a closed ring F, but an aliphatic chain. Because of anabolic properties, sarsasapogenin, diosgenin, jamogenin, smilagenin, tigogenin, and hecogenin are used. The above saponins have a hydroxyl group at the 3 position and with the help of catalysts can be converted into steroid hormones, or steroidal parahormones with anabolic effect. In the human organism there are relevant metabolic pathways, which are capable of biosynthesis of steroidal (anabolic) substances from mentioned saponins, under the condition of preliminary biochemical processing under the influence of enzymes of symbiotic intestinal microflora. These enzymes transform saponins into the derivatives of pregnane (C-21) and androstane (C-19), which are the substrates of testosterone and androsterone synthesis. For anabolism, saponins with double bonds between C5 and C6 carbons are the most effective. Metabolic degradation of the steroid saponin side chain (oxidation, reduction, dehydroxylation, dehydration) leads to the formation of compound C-19 (testosterone).

    Supplementation of these androgen precursors with normal intestinal flora can increase testosterone production by up to 4 mg per day. Due to this overproduction, so-called free testosterone appears in the blood, which is not associated with proteins. It is the free testosterone that provides the metabolic effect. In addition, the addition of phytosterols and insulin secretion stimulators (precursors and activators of hydroxyisoleucine, pure 4-hydroxyisoleucine) contained in extracts of chickweed and fenugreek provides support for the growth of connective tissue and muscle tissue. Increased insulin secretion causes stimulation of glycogen and protein synthesis, facilitating the transport of glucose, amino acids, potassium and fatty acids inside the cells through the cytoplasmic membranes and stopping excessive glycogenolysis, so that muscles do not lose energy material.

    Plant preparations containing saponins.

    The most popular plant sources of steroidal saponins have included St. John's Wort (Tribulus Terrestris). Since the early 1970s, this plant has been used to produce preparations that stimulate metabolism and also secondary sex characteristics and sexual urges.

    Biosterol is one of the modern products. Work on the chemical composition and competence of the product began in 2004. Biosterol contains extracts from 6 plants, produced in very technological processes. The anabolic potential of the preparation is greater than in the traditional extract of Anchovy (Tribulus Terrestris).

    Dosage
    1 - 2 capsules in the morning after a meal. Take every day, no later than 6:00 pm. On training day, take 1 capsule with your last meal before training.
